Brandon wanted to climb Mt. Fuji, but we were there during the wrong season. Instead, we went to Hiroshima.
Carp stuff was everywhere — they were playing in the Japan Series, I think. Shout out to the Cincinnati Reds for having the same logo.

We also met a new friend from Portland at this restaurant! She had been a teacher in Hiroshima a couple years before and was returning for a visit.

Atomic bomb survivors remember hearing the wounded cry out for water — but civilians had been taught that giving water could be dangerous depending on a person's injuries. Of course, many of the bomb victims died anyway, and water is often left as an offering at their graves.
After a solemn day at the memorial museum, we visited a cat cafe.
